One benefit to learning how to hit your golf ball a long ways is you end up using a shorter iron into the green, thus increasing your accuracy and possibly lowering your score. Do you want to hit your drives farther?
Here is a distance tip
First of all, it comes down to a number of things that you can do. It is not just a single thing that will get you the distance you are looking for.
If your clubface doesn't make perfect contact with the golf ball you will decrease your distance off the tee. This can be as much as 8%. It's obvious then that you need to make good contact with the ball. To see where you are hitting the golf ball at on your clubface, get some impact tape. This will accurately show if you are making proper contact.
An additional tip that you can do to increase your distance off the tee is to make sure not to add loft to your club. To do this correctly, make sure that at impact your golf shaft is angled toward your target. Just make sure that you don't over do it and end up closing your clubface, this would cause a pulled shot. Try some partial swings and concentrate on tilting your shaft. By doing partial, slow swings, you will be able to get the proper feel and you will be able to see if you are swinging the club correctly.
Finally, if you want to get more yardage off the tee, you will need to increase clubhead speed. A good technique to increase speed is to put your feet together. Now make a normal swing concentrating on making a good shoulder turn and then making a good follow through. You can also add a weighted club to your practice session and this will build the muscles you need to increase your clubhead speed.
Give these few tips a try and in time you will be hitting the golf ball farther off the tee.
